March News 2012 - This month 14 of our members travelled to Parbold for County Rural Skills Day.  The sun was shining as members took part in many competitions including tug of war, 100m run in wellies, brick laying and ATV safety and handling.  Everyone did really well and the club was placed third overall which was a fantastic result!  Our club is doing very well at the moment being joint first with Bury, Kirkham and Parbold YFCs for County Club Involvement and joint first with Kirkham YFC for County Junior Involvement.  This is all down to our fantastic members who are so keen to get involved with all the competitions and consistently do well! 

February News 2012 - This month we have had the county public speaking competition and are pleased to report that Ella Stanley, Georgina Bullock, Abbie Lund, Catherine Graveston and Jessica Townson  have all got through to compete at Northern Area weekend at the beginning of March.  Abbie is also competing in Member of the Year at Northern Area after she won at County level.  Our club tops arrived this month and they look very smart! We are pleased that so many of our members have purchased them and will wear them to support the club and advertise Silverwoods Waste Management.   We also entered the regional indoor sports night where members did very well and we achieved many placing’s!

January News 2012 - There have been 2 more rounds of the quiz competition in January and both our A and B teams continue to do very well.  The regional public speaking competition was held on 24th January and lots of our members competed.  Well done to everyone who took part and congratulations to Ella Stanley, Georgina Bullock, Abbie Lund and Catherine Graveston who have got though to the county public speaking competition in February.  Jessica Townson will also compete in the regional senior debate team. We have ordered our Club Shirts this month which have been very kindly sponsored by Silverwoods Waste Management.  We are very grateful to the company for its support and to the Director Julian Silverwood for his generosity.  The New Years Day Duck Race was once again a great success and we would like to thank everyone who came, bought tickets and supported the event. Overall we have had a good start to the year for Bolton by Bowland Young Farmers.  Wishing everyone best wishes for 2012.

December News 2011 - Our debate team of Jessica Townson, Catherine Graveston and Abbie Lund did very well to reach the semi finals! They missed out on the final by only 5 points, congratulations for getting so far! Very well done to Catherine Graveston who finished 9th as an individual and 8th in Lancashire’s team at the English Winter Fair.
